Liquidity, a rate that scales, and check access
What each balance band earns
Your tier is set by the balance in the account at the end of each day.
Rates current as of July 2026 and subject to change. $2,500 is required to open. Membership eligibility required. This is a demonstration website; rates, products, and figures shown are illustrative only.
How the tiers actually apply
The rate is not blended. At a balance of $30,000, the whole $30,000 earns 3.85% APY, not just the slice above $25,000. Cross a threshold on a Tuesday and the new rate applies from Tuesday forward, with no waiting for the statement cycle to close.
Dividends are calculated on the daily balance and credited on the last day of the month, the same schedule used for High-Yield Savings. If the balance dips below $2,500 for a few days, those days earn the 0.10% base rate and the tier rate returns as soon as you build it back. Nothing closes, and no fee is charged for the dip.
Worth saying plainly: below $250,000, our High-Yield Savings rate of 4.15% APY beats every Money Market tier and carries no minimum. The Money Market earns its keep when you need to pay something large directly from the balance rather than routing it through checking first, or when you want a separate account for a known upcoming purchase.
We will point you at the cheaper account even when it earns us less
Summit holds $14.2B in assets on behalf of 412,000 members who own it. Nobody here is compensated on which deposit product you choose. Bring your actual cash flow to a branch and we will tell you which account fits, including the one with the smaller balance requirement.
Money Market details worth knowing
What happens if my balance drops under $2,500?
The account stays open and keeps working, but it earns the 0.10% base rate for each day it sits below the threshold. There is no penalty and no monthly fee, and the tier rate resumes the day you rebuild the balance.
Do ATM withdrawals count toward the six items?
No. Withdrawals at a teller line, at any of 85,000 surcharge-free ATMs, or at 5,600 shared branches are unlimited. The six-item limit covers checks, ACH debits, and pre-authorized transfers only.
How often does the rate move?
The tiers are variable and reviewed monthly. When a tier changes we publish the new figure on the rates page, and it takes effect at the start of the following month rather than retroactively.
Can I hold a Money Market and a savings account at once?
Yes, and many members do. A common arrangement is High-Yield Savings for the emergency fund and a Money Market holding money earmarked for a closing, a tax payment, or a vehicle purchase.
Is a balance above $250,000 fully insured?
NCUA coverage is at least $250,000 per member per ownership category. Joint, trust, and retirement titling are insured separately, so larger balances can be fully covered with the right structure. A branch can walk through the options with you.
Can a business open one?
Business members use Business Savings for this purpose, which follows a similar tier structure. Talk with our business team about which registration and signer setup you need.
