Pick the tier your item count says you need
The same software, whatever you pay
Moving up a tier raises your limits. It does not unlock features that were being withheld from you.
Fees, transaction counts and cash limits
A transaction is any check paid, item deposited, or ACH debit or credit; debit card purchases and internal transfers are never counted.

No minimum balance, and we mean none
Basic Business has no monthly fee and no balance requirement beyond the $5 sitting in your share account that makes the company a member. A slow month does not trigger a maintenance charge. Roughly seven in ten of the businesses we bank never pay us a dollar for their checking account.
Opening the account in one visit
Bring three things and you leave with account numbers the same day: your formation documents, the EIN assignment letter from the IRS, and a photo ID for every person who will sign. Sole proprietors without an EIN can use a Social Security number and a fictitious name registration if you trade under something other than your own name. Online banking is live before you get back to the truck, and printed checks and permanent cards arrive within seven business days.
Before you sign, a banker walks through last year's item count with you and recommends a tier out loud, including the case for staying on the free one. If you are moving from another institution, ask for the switch checklist; it lists every recurring draft and direct deposit to redirect, and it is the difference between a clean transfer and three months of returned items. Questions in the meantime go to 800.555.7846 or the member help center.
Counting items and choosing a tier
I go over 250 items in some months but not most. Should I move up?
Usually not. Overage runs 30 cents an item, so 60 extra items in a busy month costs $18 while Business Plus costs $12 every single month. Move up when you are over the line more often than you are under it.
What exactly counts against my transaction allowance?
Checks you write, checks and items you deposit, and ACH debits and credits in either direction. Debit card purchases do not count. Transfers between your own Summit accounts do not count either, which is why the automatic savings sweep is free to run nightly.
How does the earnings credit on Business Analysis work?
Your average collected balance generates a credit each month that offsets the $20 fee and any per-item charges. Carry enough balance and the account effectively costs nothing. Your statement prints the calculation line by line so you can check the math.
Can I deposit cash after hours?
Night drop is available at all 42 branches. Bags pulled the next business morning are credited that same day. If you run heavy currency volume we will set you up with tamper-evident bags and a standing pickup time so nobody is counting twenties at midnight.
Can I move between tiers later?
Yes, and the account number stays the same, so your checks, direct deposits and card terminal are unaffected. Call your branch or send a secure message; the change takes effect at the start of the next statement cycle.
Do you offer overdraft protection?
You can link a business savings account or a working capital line as backup. Transfers from savings post automatically at no charge, and a linked line of credit advances in $100 increments with interest charged only on what is drawn.
